Vogue Poland, a new Polish-language addition to the Vogue franchise, will be launched in the first half of 2018, the CEO of Conde Nast International, Jonathan Newhouse, has said.
Poland will be the 23rd country to get its own version of the magazine, which is debuting here digitally and in print next year.
“Poland is a thriving market in Eastern Europe, with a growing hunger for luxury. It’s a natural for Vogue,” Newhouse said.
The new publication's launch will be spearheaded by experienced editor-in-chief Filip Niedenthal, who has previously headed Harper’s Bazaar Polska, and model and actress and Vogue cover girl Małgorzata Bela, who will serve as "editor-at-large" of the new publication.
The magazine will be published under a licence agreement with media company Visteria, headed by Katarzyna Jordan-Kulczyk, the ex-wife of Sebastian Kulczyk, Poland’s richest man.
“It’s clear there is a strong demand for a magazine that inspires and empowers Polish women, as well as promoting Polish talent internationally - not only in fashion but in the arts, film, culture and other fields,” Kulczyk said.
“I am extremely proud to have been given this opportunity to bring Vogue to Poland. Always keeping in mind the needs and expectations of our ambitious, career-driven readers, we will offer inspiring content with a reach unparalleled by any other Polish medium.”
Vogue will be joining its rivals Harper's Bazaar and Elle on the Polish market. Elle was launched in 1994 and boasts a circulation of some 52,000 while Harper's Bazaar entered the market in 2013 and is chasing Elle with a circulation of 50,000.
There is also fierce domestic competition with Twój Styl (Your Style) reaching 1.3 million readers. (vb/pk)
