Polish IT services are unable to meet growing demand for staff in this country, the Rzeczpospolita daily has reported.

The country’s labour market is lacking some 30-50,000 IT specialists. The shortage has prompted many companies to organise training sessions themselves for new recruits but also to outsource employees from across Poland's eastern border, particularly from Ukraine.
“Their competences are often on a par with domestic professionals, and in some cases they have lower financial expectations,” Rzeczpospolita said.
The shortage of IT specialists is a broader phenomenon, the paper reported, pointing to the entire European Union, which lacks up to 500,000 professionals. (aba/pk)
