Polish president in Athens urges more business with Greece

There is still "a lot that remains to be done" in Poland’s business ties with Greece, Polish President Andrzej Duda said on Tuesday.

Bilateral trade could grow to some USD 2 billion annually, up from around USD 1.3 billion last year, he suggested.
Duda was speaking in the Greek capital Athens at a conference attended by Polish and Greek businesspeople.
"We should do everything to bring Poland and Greece closer economically," Duda said in a speech at the Innovation and Green Technology Forum held on the second day of his three-day trip to Greece. The visit officially began on Monday and included talks with officials in Athens on issues such as security, the future of the European Union and bilateral trade ties.
Duda also said at the Athens conference on Tuesday that Poland was focusing on modern technology and was interested in developing know-how with its European Union partners, including Greece.
According to Duda, Poland is determined to develop green energy, while environmental protection is not only “our duty,” but also an opportunity for economic development.
Executives from 29 Polish companies active in the green energy sector were in Athens together with Duda for talks with Greek businessmen.
Before the opening of the forum, Duda took part in the presentation of a cutting-edge Polish electric bus and a fire truck manufactured by a Polish company.
