PKN Orlen gets new CEO

Daniel Obajtek has been appointed CEO of PKN Orlen after the supervisory board of Poland's largest refiner dismissed former CEO Wojciech Jasiński and two other management board members on Monday.

Obajtek has quit his role as CEO of Polish energy company Energa, which he had held since February last year.
Energa and Orlen called the 42-year-old “a valued manager, entrepreneur and experienced local-government activist”.
Under Obajtek’s leadership, Energa closed 2017 with a capitalisation of PLN 5.3 billion, recording a 38 percent increase in the price of its shares listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange -- the highest among Poland’s energy companies, Energa said in a statement.
At the end of January, PKN Orlen said it had made a profit of PLN 7.17 billion in 2017, PLN 1.43 billion more than the year before.
The refiner also said it processed a record 33.2 million tonnes of oil last year and had record sales of 42.4 million tonnes.
PKN Orlen’s supervisory board also delegated one of its members, Józef Węgrecki, to stand in as a management board member until a new one is called, which is expected to happen within three months. (vb/pk)
