"We are capable of maintaining our economy at a high level of growth, in other words between 4 and 5 percent. This is our goal,” Jerzy Kwieciński said on Monday.

"This means that our economic growth is about twice the EU average. That gives us the opportunity to catch up with [other] EU countries and also allows us to meet the aspirations of our society," he added.

Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) was on Tuesday to announce its reading on GDP growth in the first quarter.

The office said last month that Polish economy grew 4.6% in 2017.

It added that Polish GDP grew 4.9% in the final quarter of 2017, revising downwards a previous estimate of 5.1% growth in the final three months of last year.
