Deputy PM takes LOT inaugural flight to Singapore for trade talks

Polish Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński has flown on board Polish Airline LOT’s first non-stop flight to Changi airport for investment and trade talks in Singapore.

Gliński said Singapore was one of Asia’s strongest markets and a dynamically growing country that was worth doing business with.
“Singapore is a gateway to Asia, the continent with the most dynamic market in the world. Not to mention that it is the world's biggest market. China, Taiwan, Vietnam … Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, these are all countries which are developing quickly,” Gliński said
He added that the new LOT connection to Singapore’s Changi airport would improve bilateral trade ties.
Changi airport CEO Lee Seow Hiang said LOT serviced a flight to Singapore 30 years ago but it was not a direct connection.
LOT managers said they want Singapore to be one of the airline’s most popular destinations from Warsaw for people travelling for both business and pleasure.
At the end of last year the Polish airline, which just a few years ago was on the brink of bankruptcy, said it aimed to transport up to 10 million passengers in 2018, up from 6.8 million in 2017.
The carrier also announced plans to offer a number of new destinations and increase the frequency of flights. (vb/pk)
