The number of homes completed in Poland rose 6.3 percent in the first six months of this year compared to the same period in 2017, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported on Tuesday.

A total of 83,217 housing units were completed nationwide from January to June, the PAP news agency reported, citing preliminary data.
According to real estate experts, there is still a shortage of around 3 million housing units in Poland.
Poland’s government last month decided to move forward with a bill aiming to speed up the construction of new homes.
The new rules are expected to shorten the time it takes for a housing construction project to get administrative clearance and get off the ground from five years to just one year, Poland’s PAP news agency reported at the time.
