The Polish science and higher education ministry will contribute 40 percent of the PLN 100 million (EUR 23 million, USD 27 million) needed to build the centre, a multifunctional facility with a floor space of 7,500 sq m, which will include lecture halls, laboratories and a conference hall.
Science Minister Jarosław Gowin said research that will be conducted at the centre will be important to Poland’s economy and the health of Polish people.
“A great strength of Polish agriculture, of Polish products, is that they are traditionally grown, but we know that there is a technological race in the field of agricultural industry,” Gowin said, adding: “Poland has no intention of falling behind in that race”.
The planned centre is the brainchild of the Faculty for Human Nutrition and Consumer Sciences at Warsaw’s University of Life Sciences. (vb/pk)
