Perry is set to meet Piotr Naimski, a Polish government representative on strategic industrial infrastructure, and Paweł Jakubowski, CEO of the Polskie LNG company, which operates the terminal in Świnoujście.
They are expected to discuss the planned Baltic Pipe, which is to supply Poland with liquefied natural gas from Norway, as well as the expansion of the Świnoujście terminal.
Perry's visit to Świnoujście comes after Poland’s state-run gas company PGNiG on Thursday signed a long-term contract to buy liquefied natural gas from the United States as part of efforts to reduce the country’s dependence on Russian deliveries.
Also on Thursday, Poland and the US signed a joint declaration on enhanced energy security cooperation. (vb)
