The Czech Republic boasted the lowest unemployment rate in the European Union in December, at 2.1 percent, followed by Germany with 3.3 percent, according to the Eurostat agency.
Meanwhile, Greece had the highest jobless rate in the EU, at 18.6 percent, while Spanish unemployment was the second-highest at 14.3 percent, the agency said on Thursday.
It reported that the EU average for December was 6.6 percent, unchanged from November and down from 7.2 percent in December 2017.
Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS), which uses a different methodology, reported last week that the Polish jobless rate stood at 5.8 percent in December, inching up from 5.7 percent in November.
