Joblessness in the 28-member EU as a whole stood at 6.4 percent on average in March, while in the eurozone it was at 7.7 percent, Eurostat said.
The Czech Republic had the lowest unemployment in the EU in March, at 1.9 percent, followed by Germany (3.2 percent) and the Netherlands (3.3 percent).
Poland’s state-run Central Statistical Office (GUS), which uses a different methodology, said last week that unemployment in Poland dropped to 5.9 percent in March from 6.1 percent in February.
