Topics up for discussion at the 9th European Financial Congress in the northern Polish city included challenges facing banking and financial institutions in the near and more distant future.
Conference sessions, debates and lectures were also expected to focus on issues such as financial market growth, new technology, cyber security, and the economic and social implications of Britain’s looming withdrawal from the European Union.
Expected guests included Poland’s Finance Minister Teresa Czerwińska and Prof. Nouriel Roubini, a renowned economist who is credited with predicting the burst of the US housing market bubble and the global financial crisis in 2008.
As in previous years, conference participants were expected to work out a set of recommendations for policy makers, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
Polish Radio is a media partner of the event, which runs until Wednesday.
