The Polish producer has announced that the delivery of zero-emission Solaris Urbino 12 buses to the German capital is one of the largest tenders for battery-powered vehicles in Europe.
The first of the buses will be handed over at the beginning of next year, followed by three further sets of deliveries, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
The orders have been placed by Berlin’s BVG public transport company.
The Solaris Bus & Coach firm is a leading European manufacturer of public transport vehicles.
It employs over 2,300 in Poland and close to 300 in its foreign branches.
To date it has delivered some 17,000 vehicles to 32 countries around the world, the PAP agency has reported.
Solaris said earlier this month it had been selected to supply 12 hydrogen-powered buses for the Italian city of Bolzano.
