Banks and network operators are currently working on the Near Field Communiction (NFC) standard, which is set to revolutionise mobile payments, informs the Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily.

Customers willing to pay ‘by phone’ will simply have to place their handset near to an NFC terminal, much like the technology used with wireless card payments, which have become more and more popular in Poland.

Only the UK and Turkey have as many such wireless payment terminals, writes the daily, adding that in Poland large chain stores such as Empik, as well as fast-food gaints McDonald’s and Zabka supermarkets already use the technology. (jb)
