EU funds boost IT competition in Poland

TP Teltech, Kawe and Alcatel-Lucent have reportedly not yet drawn up companies to enter the race for the EU funds, although competition is thought to come from Ericsson, Huawei, Eltel or NokiaSiemens Networks.

“We are preparing to take part in tenders for the construction of broadband networks,” Katarzyna Pak, spokesperson for Ericsson told the Puls Biznesu daily, adding that the Swedish telecoms firm “will not work together with Telekomunikacja Polska (TP).”

Ericsson and TP, which is majority owned by France Telecom, abruptly ended cooperation with each other after TP resigned from an outsourcing project for a stationary network. Ericsson was expecting over 2,000 members of TP staff involved in the project.

According to Puls Biznesu, Ericsson may start in the tender process alongside Exatel. “We are analysing the situation, but for the time being no decisions have been taken,” Aneta Lange-Kepczynska from Exatel told the business daily. (jb)
