Speaking at an international innovation conference in Warsaw, Mateusz Morawiecki said Poland and other countries in its region wanted to hold on to homegrown talent while working with cutting-edge companies such as Google.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai was among those taking part in the Warsaw conference, billed as a Central and Eastern Europe Innovation Roundtable.

"We do not want another brain drain,” said Morawiecki, as quoted by Poland’s PAP news agency. “We want these brains to work for Google, for Poland, Lithuania, and so on.”

Politicians and businessmen from across Central and Eastern Europe brainstormed ways of boosting the region’s innovation performance and tapping its digital potential at the high-profile event, which was held by the Polish Ministry of Enterprise and Technology.

Government officials from countries including Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania were among those meeting at the Palace on the Isle venue in Warsaw’s Royal Łazienki Park, according to the PAP news agency.

Poland was at the end of last year ranked second among the world’s 50 best countries to invest in by a business news website.
