A people deserves to be judged by its best, not its worst, a commentator has in a blog for The Times of Israel amid tensions between Poland and Israel over World War II history.
“Poland’s best are among the very best of humanity, and among the Jewish people’s most trusted friends,” said Yossi Klein Halevi in a blog entitled “I love Poland”.
His comments came amid a row after Israel’s interim foreign minister claimed that Poles “imbibed anti-Semitism with their mother’s milk.”
The remark has sparked calls for an apology. Poland pulled out of a regional summit in Jerusalem planned for earlier this week.
