“Before the Olympics in London, I promised Zuza that if I got a medal I would sell it,” Zofia said, Thursday, as she announced that she would be auctioning the medal and collecting money for treatment for the sick five year-old, Zuzanna Bobińska.
“I am very pleased that, despite the obstacles at the end of the race, when I took the wrong route, I managed to get on the podium. Thanks to that I can now help.”
The treatment “is very expensive, so I hope that the money raised from the auction will help Zuza,” the 26-year-old windsurfer from the YKP Warsaw said.
Zofia has known her young neighbour from birth.
“When I learned from her mother about the disease, even then I thought: what can I do to help?”
The auction process will last untill 18 October and the Olympic bronze medalist is currently building a web site here to coordinate the charity action. (pg)
