Police detained the Polish boxer known as the 'Highlander”, who is based in New Jersey, on Saturday, after he crashed into a parked car.
While being detained by police, Adamek refused to take a test to determine the level of alcohol in his blood, police say.
Adamek (48-2, 29 KO) has been released on a 1000 USD bail to await further charges.
Tomasz Adamek, born near Zywiec in southern Poland, is currently negotiating a spring bout with Kubrat Pulev, the winner of which would get a shot at the IBM heavyweight title against Ukrainian champ Wladimir Klitschko. (pg)
