The fight is due to take place on 25 October in Czestochowa, southern Poland, but no hint has been given about who the opponent will be.
Gossip is already rife that the Polish bruiser may take on multiple world champion Evander Holyfield, in spite of the fact the American is himself technically retired.
Golota, who is now 46, won 41 of his career fights, including 33 knock-outs.
He has only boxed once in the last four years, losing to fellow Pole Przemyslaw Saleta at Gdansk's Ergo Arena in February 2013.
Golota won a bronze medal in the Seoul Olympics (1988), but he never won the coveted World Champion's belt. (nh)
