Poland is now No. 41 in the world, one place up from the previous ranking and 40 places from the beginning of the year.
The progress in the FIFA rankings comes on the back of a strong showing in the European Championship qualifying games, including a 2:0 defeat of the current world champions and ranking leaders, Germany. Poland also held Scotland a 2:2 draw and defeated Georgia and Gibraltar.
Scotland are ranked 36th, the Republic of Ireland (another European qualifiers rival) 63rd and Georgia – 125th. Gibraltar are not ranked. (an)
