Jędrzejczyk breaks hand defending UFC title

UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk hammered Canadian challenger Valerie Letourneau in their title fight at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium, but the Pole broke her hand in the process.

“Nobody is going to take this belt from me,” the Pole had declared before stepping up to defend her title for the second time.
The Olsztyń-born fighter remains unbeaten in the UFC, with Saturday marking the 11th victory of her career.
Meanwhile, Jędrzejczyk managed to break two records during the Melbourne clash.
The first was for the Most significant strikes ever in a championship bout (220), the second for the most ever leg kicks in the history of UFC fighting.
The 28-year-old won Poland's first ever UFC champion's belt in March this year.
She took up martial arts as a teenager, beginning her career in Muay Thai. (nh/rk)
