Poland were beaten 28:29 after extra time in Friday’s match.
The Poles now take on Germany on Sunday, hoping for bronze and their second-ever Olympic medal. In 1976 in Montreal, the Poles finished third.
The Polish team beat Croatia 30:27 in the Rio quarter-finals on Wednesday.
Two days earlier, after a poor performance, they lost 20:25 against Slovenia and had to rely on a German victory against Egypt to make it into the final eight of the tournament.
