The championship is part of the European Tour, with a prize pool of USD 5 million. The winner will leave USD 800,000 richer.
Meronk, 23, was born in Hamburg, Germany, and lives in Wrocław, southwest Poland.
Before turning professional, he made it to eighth place in the World Amateur Golf Ranking this year, the highest spot ever claimed by a Pole.
