Janowicz won 7:6 (7-4), 7:6 (7-5), 3:6, 6:1 in one hour and 45 minutes.
The Pole, who has fallen in rankings as he dealt with injury, played a dynamic game.
He played plenty of short balls and came close to the net a number of times.
He also pulled out his signature strong serve many times during the match, but Pouille tallied more aces during the match.
By the end of the third set, Janowicz seemed to have exhausted his rival. (vb/pk)
