Poles are tipped among the favourites as this season’s ski-jumping World Cup is about to get under way.

The World Cup circuit will open with a competition in Wisła, southern Poland, on Saturday, the first ever season kick-off hosted by this country.
In all, the 2017/2018 ski-jumping World Cup features 31 competitions, including eight team events, in eight countries.
The competitions will be held on a total of 18 hills, including three ski-flying hills.
The series will come to Poland twice this season: for competitions in Wisła this weekend, and for events in the southern mountain resort of Zakopane on January 27-28.
Polish ski jumpers dominated last World Cup season as a team, winning the Nations Cup overall.
Individually this season, Polish fans are counting on Kamil Stoch, a two-time Sochi Winter Olympics champion and the winner of the 2013/2014 World Cup.
They are also investing their hopes in Dawid Kubacki, who won this year's Summer Grand Prix circuit in fine style.
