Poles set new men's 4x400m indoor world record

The Polish men's 4x400-metre relay team set a new world record with their gold medal-winning time of 3:01.77 at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Birmingham on Sunday.

Karol Zalewski, Rafał Omelko, Łukasz Krawczuk and Jakub Krzewina beat the US men's team, which finished second with a time of 3:01.97, and the Belgian third-placed team, which had a time of 3:02.51.
Also in Birmingham, the Polish women's 4x400-metre relay team came second and set a new Polish record with a time of 3:26.09. They were two seconds behind the gold medal-winning US team.
Poland's Marcin Lewandowski won a silver medal with a time of 3:58.39 in the 1,500-metre race, losing to Ethiopian Samuel Tefera, who was just 0.20 seconds faster. (vb/pk)
