The National Stadium in Warsaw has sustained hundreds of thousands worth of damage as a result of football hooligans setting off flares and vandalising property during the Polish Cup final, a spokeswoman said on Thursday.

Damage caused by vandals is estimated at around PLN 300,000 (EUR 70,650, USD 84,000), Monika Borzdyńska, a spokeswoman for the stadium, said, as cited by Poland’s PAP news agency.
She added that the cost to repair the stadium’s roof alone could be around PLN 140,000.
According to the Polish Football Association (PZN), around 100 seats were damaged at the stadium during last Wednesday’s match between Legia Warsaw and Arka Gdynia.
Football bosses have asked prosecutors to investigate the incident.
Legia Warsaw beat Arka Gdynia 2-1 in the game on May 2. It was Legia’s 19th Polish Cup victory.
