Athletics: Poles triumph in Glasgow

Poles picked up golds in the men’s 1,500 metres and the women's 4x400m relay at the European Athletics Indoor Championships on Sunday, finishing top of the overall medals classification.

Marcin Lewandowski came first in the 1,500 metres in Glasgow, Scotland, repeating his success of two years ago in Belgrade. He clocked in at 3.42:85.
The Polish women’s team, comprising Anna Kiełbasińska, Iga Baumgart-Witan, Małgorzata Hołub-Kowalik and Justyna Święty-Ersetic, grabbed gold in the 400m relay.
Meanwhile, Poland’s Sofia Ennaoui took the silver in the women’s 1,500m.
On Saturday, Polish pole vaulter Paweł Wojciechowski won gold after clearing a height of 5.90 metres. His countryman Piotr Lisek came second with 5.85 metres.
Ewa Swoboda added another gold to Poland’s tally, winning the women’s 60 metres in 7.09 seconds.
A day earlier, Michał Haratyk came first in the shot put.
