Kubot and Melo, the no. 1 seeds, on Thursday beat Dutchman Wesley Koolhof and New Zealand’s Marcus Daniell 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
On Saturday the Polish-Brazilian duo take on French pair Jérémy Chardy and Fabrice Martin, vying for a place in the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam competition in Paris.
Kubot and Melo have been touted among the favourites at this year’s French Open though they have not won any tournaments this season.
The Pole and the Brazilian were in 2017 named the men’s doubles team of the year by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
