Glass City Krosno
Krosno has been called "little Kraków" because of its architecture so reminiscent of
Kraków's own old town. It boasts some unique medieval churches, atmospheric arcades and lovely old houses. In Poland, it also brings associations with the oil industry and the 19th century inventor of the oil lamp, pioneer of oil refining, Ignacy Łukasiewicz.
For years, Krosno in Poland has also stood for glass, and it would be a challenge to find any household without a hoard of its products - especially in a culture which drank its tea out of a glass.
Now Krosno is taking its glass-making traditions to quite another level... that of a tourist attraction. Elzbieta Krajewska speaks to Dawid Iwaniec from Krosno's brand-new Glass Heritage Centre.
