An exclusive interview with the Oscar-winning composer about this year's edition of his international festival of music and film, starting in Poznań on August 15.

Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, internationally renowned composer is back in Poland, preparing for the second edition of his film and music festival, Transatlantyk.

Kaczmarek moved to the United States over two decades ago, and has since become one of the star composers, crowned in 2005 with an Oscar for Best Original Score on Marc Forster's highly acclaimed film, Finding Neverland.

In recent years he has been involved in several projects in Poland, composing pieces for the anniversaries such us of the birth of Solidarity. A year ago he launched the first edition of Transatlantyk festival, showcasing his two great passions - film and music.

This year's edition, taking place August 15-22, goes under the theme Glocal (Global+Local) and will welcome guests such as actor Julian Sands, jazz musician Leszek Możdżer, author Graham White and film director Jacek Bławut (full list of guests and events available on festival's website). Michał Kubicki spoke to Kaczmarek about the global and local themes to be showcased at the festival.
