More than seven years after leaving the presidential palace, Aleksander Kwaśniewski returns to politics with an eye on the European Parliament elections in 2014.

The former Polish president, Aleksander Kwasniewski launched the new iniatiative, Europe Plus, a joint platform which is set to bring centre-left politicians into the European Parliament.
As analyst Robert Strybel stresses, Kwaśniewski’s success will depend on whether he is able to ‘keep in line with Janusz Palikot, the most distrustful politician in Poland at present’.
