Commissioner warns MEPs – 'don't rock the boat'

Michal Kubicki interviewed Janusz Lewandowski, European Commissioner for Financial Programming and the Budget, for Polish Radio’s English Service.

According to Lewandowski, ‘the Polish government is like a captain on a ship on the stormy waters of today’s Europe; the captain is responsible for the ship, whereas we in Brussels are more responsible for the waters. […] Everybody should be prudent under these extreme conditions’.

He also explains that investments and jobs are necessary for confidence to continue to grow in the financial markets. Europeans need to realize that ‘with frustration comes some propensity for populist recipes for Europe – and here’s the danger’.
