US opens market to EU beef imports
The Washington administration has decided on re-opening the American market to beef imports from Europe after 17 years.

As Slawek Szefs reports, the first EU country to have received the green light is the Republic of Ireland.
“This is an important and positive signal […] Now, we think that all the rest of the European Union should be open to the American market of beef,” said EC spokesman Enrico Brivio in Brussels.
At the same time the European Commission has declared it will not agree to limiting the scope of protection for EU regional products in the Union's free trade agreement with the US.
