The opposition has been holding a sit-in protest in the Sejm, the lower house of Parliament, since 16 December, arguing that a vote on next year's budget was illegal.
Government officials claim, however, that there were no irregularities, even though the vote took place in an ancillary room rather than in the plenary hall.
"There is the opposition that at large does not recognize this parliamentary majority as legitimate (...) On the other hand though, we have the government which does not recognize the opposition's claim to legitimacy and peaceful protests," said Jakub Dymek from Political Critique, a left-wing periodical.
