News From Poland :: 15.08.2018

In the magazine: August 15 is Armed Forces Day, established on the anniversary of the victorious Battle of Warsaw against Soviet Russia in 1920. We invite to a feature on the Polish-Soviet war and the confrontation which to many historians was one of the decisive battles in world history. Also: "Fred Zinneman's return", a festival in Rzeszów, birthplace - though not many know - of this famous Hollywood director ("High Noon", "From Here to Eternity"). Also: the Warsaw home of Maria Skłodowska-Curie, recently voted woman who most changed the world in a poll run by BBC History magazine.
