Poland's finance minister welcomed “greater financial integration” of the EU after the 27 member states reached a final agreement on reforms forcing greater fiscal discipline to prevent a further worsening of the crisis in the Eurozone.
Danuta Isler reports
According to minister Jacek Rostowski , it was of key importance to the credibility and financial management of Europe. The final seal of approval for the six-pack regulations was also welcomed by market analysts in Poland.
Maja Goettig, the main economist of the BPH Bank was cautiously optimistic pointing to the long-term rather than short-term effects of the six-pack regulations which, in turn, may not improve the mood on the market.
Łukasz Bugaj of Millennium Bank Brokers said the decision was taken too late for it to be an effective weapon in the present situation. Adoption of the six-pack rules was one of the tasks of Poland’s presidency in the European Council.
