In this week’s show we look at the environmental priorities of the Polish presidency in the EU Council and wonder how the European Union is going to reconcile its economic growth with effective protection of the environment.

The Polish presidency in the EU Council is taking place at a special time, during the preparations for the Rio 20+ conference and the climate summit in Durban. In anticipation for these events and in agreement with other EU member states, Poland is shaping a new European environmental policy, which includes three priorities of the presidency, such as climate change mitigation, protection of biodiversity and resource efficiency.
