What's Up 29.04.2012 History of broadcasting in Poland PART 1.mp3
The first installment in our two part series of the pioneer years of radio in this country.
A few weeks ago Polish Radio celebrated the 86th anniversary of its first transmission. The station's External, or Foreign Language Service boasts a slightly shorter, nevertheless, equally impressive period of operations.
Taking the opportunity, we would like to share from our archive recordings Poland's broadcasting history as recalled by one of its biggest enthusiasts and diligent chroniclers - Professor Maciej Kwiatkowski. Professor Kwiatkowski, known to audiences simply as Uncle Maciej, passed away in 1994 but his accounts of the pioneer period of radio in Poland have been preserved.
