Inconclusive talks prompt new parliamentary elections in debt-stricken Greece, as the country stands on the verge of bankruptcy.

Greek’s recent inconclusive parliamentary ballot has exposed the country’s rift between the supporters and opponents of the former government’s cost-cutting drive, a condition of the country’s further membership in the single currency bloc.

The uncertainty of the outcome of the second round of elections heightens speculation whether Greece will be the first country to abandon the euro and whether other debt-stricken economies would soon follow suit. Alicja Baczyńska reports.
