Police raided the singer’s Warsaw home after customs officers found 60 grammes of marijuana in a parcel sent to her address.
"Three grammes were found in her home," confirmed Mariusz Mrozek, spokesperson for the city police force.
Jackowska has already been released from custody.
“I don’t drink alcohol, and if I had the possibility - as I don’t - I would gladly smoke marijuana,” she had been quoted as saying in an interview for a recent issue of weekly Wprost.
“If the state is allowed to penalize the possession of marijuana, it will continue to use its powers to the highest degree possible, as it is easier to arrest some young individual smoking pot, rather than real criminals,” the singer said in the interview.
As lead singer for the band Maanam, Kora was one of the iconic figures in Poland's 1980s punk scene.
She featured prominently in the award-winning recent documentary Beats of Freedom (2009), which chronicled how rock music came to undermine the communist system in Poland. (ab/nh)
