The survey found 92 percent of those in gay or lesbian relationships in Poland said they were happy, compared to 82 percent in heterosexual relationships.

The report by the Institute of Psychological Sciences says that the higher satisfaction rates among gays and lesbians is due to the lack of “socially stereotyped gender roles” found among men and women in straight relationships.

Cooking, cleaning and other roles frequently left to be done by women in traditional relationships are undertaken, often, by both partners in homosexual relationships, the Gazeta Wyborcza daily writes.

The survey was taken from a sample of 3038 gays or lesbians by the CBOS opinion pollsters. (pg)
