A fake priest who collected money for a supposed Roman Catholic church in Donetsk may escape scot free, as Ukraine is unable to assist the Polish authorities in the fraud investigation.

Jacek K. turned up at the church of Mogielnica near Warsaw in December 2013, claiming to be collecting money for the church of the Mother of God of Fatima at Donetsk in eastern Ukraine.
He worked at the church, celebrating masses and apparently bringing the faithful to tears with his sermons. He was arrested after just a few weeks.
The Polish authorities have asked Ukraine for assistance with proving the man used forged documents to win the trust of the parish priest. With Donetsk occupied by Russian-backed separatists, however, Ukraine is unable to deliver the evidence, which could yet see the fake priest walk free. (an)
