The paramilitaries have wind in their sails amid the growing international tensions in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The organisations teach their members about the rules of first aid, location of shelters and basics of firearms use.
Some hire paratroopers to train them in self-defence, survival and combat.
The organisations are set to create a federation that will lobby for a greater recognition of their role in national defence. (an)
