Organisers are hoping to get people to switch to veganism on ethical grounds, as well as health and environmental reasons.
The week is organised for the seventh time by the Empatia Association, with events planned to be held in Warsaw and 22 other cities including Białystok, Kielce, Olsztyn and Toruń.
According to Empatia, 7 percent of Poles adhere to a vegan or vegetarian diet or sympathise with the vegan lifestyle.
Joanna Andrusiewicz from Empatia told the PAP news agency that vegan diets have become fashionable in Poland, although added “we are especially pleased with people who turn to veganism through rational reasoning”.
This year’s programme of events include meetings with dieticians and personal trainers Damian Parol and Adam ‘Strąk Man’ Sułowski, a vegan athlete who takes part in UltraMan competitions.
Other events include cooking competitions, talks, workshops and food markets. (jb)
