One third of Poles happy with Duda election

As many as 20 percent have an indifferent opinion on the election of the new president-elect, while 16 percent are dismayed with the result.

The poll found that 14 percent of repondents were surprised at the election result, while 10 percent were uncertain of Andrzej Duda’s election victory.

Meanwhile, the CBOS poll found that 36 percent of responents have a middle-of-the-road opinion on Duda’s upcoming presidency, stating that it will be neither a positive nor negative term in office.

As many as 20 percent of respondents stated that Duda will be a good president (broken down as 7 percent – very good, 13 percent – good), while 21 percent feel that Duda will be a bad president and a further 10 percent that he will be a very bad president.

More than half of respondents with leftist political leanings (58 percent) and exactly half (50 percent) have a negative opinion on Duda’s presidency, while 59 percent of respondents with right political leanings feel that Duda will be a good president.

The conservative Law and Justice’s candidate Andrzej Duda beat incumbent Bronisław Komorowski in the second round of presidtial elections on 24 May this year.

The survey was undertaken between 26 May to 3 June on a representative selection of 988 adult Poles. (jb)
