If the elections to the Polish Parliament were held this week, the conservative opposition Law and Justice (PiS) would receive 31 percent of the vote.

The governing Civic Platform (PO) party would garner six percentage points less.

According to a survey carried out by the CBOS Institute, an emerging grouping formed by rock musician Paweł Kukiz would receive 19 percent of the vote, just one percentage point less than Kukiz himself in the first round of the presidential election.

Both the Democratic Left Alliance and the Polish People’s Party, the junior partner in the present ruling coalition, would receive less than five percent of the vote and would therefore have no parliamentary representation.

The election is expected to be held in October but no official date has yet been announced.

The survey was conducted between 11 and 17 of June on a representative group of 1011 adult Poles, using computer-assisted face-to-face interviews. (mk/rg)
