Thousands without electricity following storm

Seventeen people have been injured and over 30,000 had their power cut off after Poland is hit by severe winds and rainfall.

According to the Government Security Centre (RCB) the Pomorskie and Zachodniopomorskie regions in northern Poland could see more storms on Monday and Tuesday.

Waterways and lakes in the Silesia and Opolskie regions could see water levels rising significantly due to the precipitation.

As a result of the storms, on Sunday and the early hours of Monday, fire brigades around the country had answered some 6,000 calls.

As a result of the strong winds, which capsized trees and blew off roofs, one person died and 17 were injured. (rg)
