Wrocław is Poland’s most traffic congested city

The south-western Polish city of Wrocław has the worst traffic in the country, both in morning and afternoon rush hours, statistics show.

“I think that drivers in Wrocław do not need statistics and calculations. After all you can see it with the naked eye. Drivers can afford to read a newspaper [while standing in traffic],” complained one driver in the city.
According to the calculations of experts from traffic-service website Korkowo.pl, in September and in early October cars in Wrocław drove at an average speed of 36 km/h, the slowest in the country.
The traffic situation in Wrocław has worsened significantly over the last few years.
A 2008 article by Forbes said that “London drivers clock an average speed of 11.8 miles per hour (19 km/h). That's far slower than Berlin, at 15.0 mph (24.2 km/h), and Warsaw, at 16.1 mph (26 km/h), which came in second and third, respectively.” Since then the Polish capital's new western ring road and other expressways helped alleviate the traffic in some parts of the city.
